Details

Gain knowledge of the practical aspects of developing robust RF and wireless designs suited for high-volume production with the Applied Design of RF/Wireless Products & Systems course. A training course specifically designed for RF professionals, this advance level course teaches on designing and developing modern RF and wireless communications circuits and systems for practical situations using common digital modulation standards. You will be able to describe common digital modulation standards and modulation formats, explain key component specifications of each transceiver circuit block, and understand more about the key features of common transceiver architecture.

You will learn how to:

  • Describe common digital modulation standards and modulation formats
  • Explain the key component-level specifications of each transceiver circuit block
  • Explain the component-level and system-level measurements required to characterise digital modulation systems
  • List the key features, strengths and weaknesses of common transceiver architectures
  • Specify the key measurements for digital receivers and transmitters
  • Identify the effects of pcb layout on system performance and use best practices to minimise layout-related problems
  • Mitigate against yield, tolerancing and self-EMC as well as conducted and radiated integration problems
  • Understand integration risks and use verification methods to validate a digital modulation system

Who should attend

  • RF engineers and technicians working in research and development, and manufacture of test and production environment
  • System engineers dealing in the architecture of RF communications systems
  • Engineering managers working in RF wireless communications

Dr Chris Potter is a renowned researcher in the field of adaptive linearization of Power Amplifiers (Pas). His research also extends into RF system designs and tools for automation of RF design processes. Having previously worked for Marconi Instruments and Tality UK, Dr Potter has designed a variety of microwave and RF test equipment and worked on RF architectures and product designs for GSM, EDGE, Bluetooth, 802.11a/b and W-CDMA. He is presently a consultant with Cambridge RF Ltd. in Cambridge, UK, where he works on diverse client projects in the fields of GPS receivers, Bluetooth testers, Envelope Tracking Pas, Security Tag Readers, Microwave Radios and DVB over fibre.

Dr Potter received his PhD from the University of London in 1987.

Wizlogix was founded by our Directors, Angeline Lee and Shawn Ng in year 2000. We were awarded with our first major contract in PCB layout design from HP (Hewlett Packard), and have developed long term business relations with them ever since.
  • In 2004, Wizlogix invested in high-end EDA tools to be used for in-house layout design services and explored into additional services such as PCB prototyping fabrication and assembly.
  • In 2007, the Wizlogix Training Hub was established. Working with renowned trainers internationally, we aim to provide technical competency courses and certification programs for local engineers.
  • In 2009, we further expanded to specialize in quick turn prototyping, New Product Introduction (NPI) and High Mix Low Volume (HMLV) builds.
  • With the aim of expanding like an MNC, Wizlogix embarked on improving employee engagement through HR Capability Programmes in 2011.
  • In 2012, we became an IPC member to gear ourselves towards a worldwide industry standard in PCB qualities acceptance.
  • By 2013, Wizlogix was involved in the PCB layout of a joint commercial satellite design and development project between DSO and NTU, and the satellite design for Singapore Technologies. They are now known as ST (Satellite System). Since then, we became part of the space ecosystem in the government’s efforts towards nurturing this new industry. ...
