Learning Arabic can appear daunting at first. However, here at the Oxford Language Academy, our teachers make learning to speak Arabic easy. Our Conversational Arabic classes are specially designed for beginners and for those who intend to brush up their conversational Arabic language skills. Through the guidance of our learned teachers, your Arabic learning experience will be smooth and exciting.
Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), most commonly used in writing and formal speaking today, will be the form of Arabic students will learn in this course. Through the use of the romanization of the Arabic alphabet, and English translation, students will learn Arabic dialogue, basic grammar, vocabulary and expressions. It will also illustrate communication etiquette and formalities on how to address others. Even though this class emphasises on the speaking aspect of the Arabic language, it also offers a small portion on the writing of Arabic characters.
Part of learning a language involves embracing its use in its native context and the rich culture behind it. Students get glimpse of the distinct lifestyle and diverse experiences of Arabic culture through the various illustrations of Arabic culture that is presented in every lesson. Classes held are immersive and interactive, enabling students to speak Arabic to one another.
With the use of phonetic exercises, students will learn proper pronunciation of the Arabic language, as well as, speaking in the correct Arabic accent. Our aim is to develop students’ conversational skills and appreciation for
Arabic. Students will be able to seamlessly converse by delivering simple sentences and honing a vocabulary of at least 400 words. Hence, at the end of the course, students will be able to construct basic sentences with proper grammatical structure.
Levels
There are 3 levels to our Conversational Arabic course – Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3. Each level consists of 20 hours of classes.
Requirements
Level 1
This course is for absolute beginners. English is used as the medium of instruction to teach Conversational Arabic Level 1. There are no minimum requirements for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents (PR’s). However, foreigners would first be required
to go through an interview, to assess their suitability for this course.
Level 2
Students are required to successfully complete Conversational Arabic Level 1, before they can embark on this Conversational Arabic Level 2 course.
Level 3
Students are required to successfully complete Conversational Arabic Level 2, before they can embark on this Conversational Arabic Level 3 course.
Students requesting direct entry to any course beyond Level 1 must undergo a placement test.
Course Certification
Students will receive a Certificate of Completion upon completion of the course, if they meet the minimum requirements of 70% attendance.
