Details

As a seemingly endless encounter that calls for ideas on the spot, life itself has been called the greatest improvisation of all. It makes sense that Improvisational Theatre, a form of theatre where what unfolds in performance is created in present time, holds many nuggets of wisdom which applies to daily living. In this dynamic and lively workshop, you will learn how to think on your feet, overcome the fear of failure and trust your instincts. You will explore more characters in one day than you will in one year.

The holistic coverage of improvisation basics also ensures a deeper understanding of playwriting and storytelling techniques, and sharpens directing skills. Bill Murray, Robin Williams, Steve Carell, Chevy Chase, Sascha Baron Cohen are some actors to have worked extensively on their improvisation skills before receiving recognition for their craft.

Improv is really for everyone and most of the time for those who think they could never do it.

Speaker/s

Raised in Avignon, where one of the most famous French theatre festivals is held every summer, Arnaud Pierre started his first theatre classes in elementary school. Throughout high school, Arnaud kept studying classic French theatre and even co-wrote a few plays. It was in 2006 that he discovered his one true love amongst all types of theatrical performance: Improvisation. Arnaud studied dozens of different formats with various coaches for 8 years and discovered the many faces of improv: from the very narrative style of Keith Johnstone to Del Close's organic approach through to Viola Spolin's games-based format. Arnaud has played with many troupes in France, in national and international festivals. Arnaud arrived in Singapore in 2012 willing to see if Improv was soluble in the Lion City. He quickly set up a troupe with The French Stage and joined The Improv Company with whom he performs frequently.
