Students prepare for certified entry-level employment in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, piping, controls and electrical work. The technical skills acquired in this program may be applied in areas such as air conditioning, systems controls, energy management systems, heating and ventilation technicians, and sales.

Also students are taught how to follow specifications and blueprints, connect electrical wiring and identify problems in these systems and determine the best ways to fix them.

The program also provides extended learning opportunities for persons previously or currently employed in related professions.
The learners will study and analyse,

  • Check/Restore/Change HVAC-related electrical components
  • Know the components that constitute Residential and Commercial Air Conditioning
  • High and low voltage control circuits
  • Basic heat transfer relationships
  • Prepare and interpret basic electrical, mechanical and piping drawings
  • Air Conditioning design, including air filtration, humidity control and load calculations
  • Perform maintenance and inspections on gas and electric heating systems
  • Test and diagnose components, systems, and accessories
  • Designing duct system

Diagnostic methods, safety procedures and preventative.
