Speaker/s
Gregory Chow (Senior lecturer)
School of Life Sciences and Chemical Technology,
Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore
Mr Chow has more than 20 years of experience in hydroponics research and commercial greenhouse cultivation in Australia and Singapore. Being a pioneer in commercial aeroponics, he established the first aeroponic farm in the region in 1996. Mr Chow was also involved in the establishment of one of the earliest roof-top farms at Changi General Hospital in 1998. He now incorporates greenhouse optimisation of high-value crops and its adaptation to tropical urban environment especially on high rise buildings. This includes integrating aquaculture with hydroponics (aquaponics). Mr Chow’s current research comprise vertical farming and green roof technology systems (including green walls) for greening and reducing urban heat built up in Singapore’s dense living environment.
