The ARTS FISSION Company
Set up in 1994, The ARTS FISSION COMPANY is the first full-time contemporary dance company in Singapore to incorporate itself as a company limited by guarantee. The company marked its 20th anniversary in January 2015 with MAKE IT NEW, a multi-discipline project in collaboration with the Singapore National Design Centre. The MAKE IT NEW project revealed a reinvented vigor of Arts Fission that goes beyond conventional dance practice.
ARTS FISSION excels in cross-disciplinary collaborations that are informed by Asian aesthetics. The company is dedicated to the creation of original dance works that explore diverse issues connected to the everyday, including works that examine the effect of climate change on art, culture, and the environment. ARTS FISSION has been leading the cultivation of site-specific dance performance in Singapore since the company’s inception in the mid-90s.
The community outreach of the company focuses on research projects for active ageing in collaboration with healthcare professionals. The company’s Everyday Waltzes is a creative movement program that takes inspiration from everyday actions to stimulate the elderly’s cognitive and physical mobility.
