In our bid to support children’s creativity and in line with all that research studies have suggested are needed to enhance children’s creative potential, Wee Care has a Creative Thinking class that is currently conducted once a week in the afternoons, for 1.5 hours each time.

Here is an example of a product created by Ella. We asked her to C-R-E-A-T-E a better umbrella. C-R-E-A-T-E stands for:

Combine        Rearrange        Eliminate        Adapt        Try        Extend

This is what she designed and described.

The umbrella is called “Butterflies in the Garden”.

It is shaped like a flower with glittery butterflies hanging from the tips  of the ribs of the umbrella frame.

There are flowers drawn on the inner surface of the umbrella.

“I want it to look like a garden on the outside and the inside. When I use the umbrella, I feel good, like flying with the butterflies in the garden.

There will be a purple light-stick along the handle so that when it is raining heavily at night, I will feel safe. I will be able to see what is around me.

The umbrella is special because it is the only umbrella shaped like a flower with lot of butterflies and light. It makes you happy to hold it. You can use it to dance with.”

If you think that your child might benefit from engaging in activities that encourage creative thinking, please do call your respective Wee Care centres to find out more about this programme that we have available. We would love to have your child included soon!

Wee Care was birthed from a heart that wants the best for infants, toddlers, children with special needs and their parents. Founded in 1996 by teacher and mother of three, Mrs Denise Lai, Wee Care began as a provider of home-based midwifery services to babies and new mothers. Eventually, the services took on an educational nature to ensure that infants and toddlers developed well whilst their parents were at work.

Three years later, Parent-Child PlayGroups were introduced to give working parents the opportunity to develop deeper bonds with their babies and toddlers through motivated, directed and purposeful play. At the same time, Behavioural Management Programmes were added to the fold to provide early assistance to children with special learning needs.

Today, Wee Care stands out among the crowd of educational centres as the home-grown pioneer in research-based Infant Development, Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention Programmes.

It is one of the top centres in Singapore for the rehabilitation of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other developmental problems. Child psychologists at the KK Women and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and the National University Hospital (NUH) of Singapore, as well as those at private hospitals and clinics, make regular recommendations to their clients to seek therapy services here. ...
